Iran's nuclear program
At the UN meeting September 23, 2009 the president of Iran made conciliatory statements about negotiations concerning their nuclear program -- reported by The Washington Post. It was an interesting parallel to the Russian president saying a new START treaty could be negotiated by December.
The first Archivist search found 1,500 micro messages going back as far as 12:08 a.m. September 22 -- day before the announcement. Trendistic did not produce a decent figure for this search. However, Twitter Streamgaphs produced a figure that seems to indicate that this 1,500 is back to the beginning of what probably should be called a new spurt since this has been on the international agenda for more than a decade.
Obama then Russia and then China are important rivulets.
Today, September 25, 2009, it became breaking news.

So, watching to see if there is bounce now is worth doing. Also I am going to move this into the breaking news folder.
The second revelation -- a second power plant -- produced enough messages to make a trendistic figure.
Trendistic has a hard time with this because it looks for the exact phrase rather than messages that contain both words. There are lots of messages with the words but few with the exact phrase.
On the first of October the diplomatic manuevering with Iran became breaking news for a second time.

A senior U.S. diplomat held a rare bilateral meeting Thursday with his Iranian counterpart, and officials said Iran agreed to further talks with six major powers on its nuclear program.
Western diplomat sources said preparations were also underway for the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit Iran's newly disclosed uranium enrichment facility near Qom before the next meeting takes place.

Iran keeps on keeping on -- as does The Washington Post. This is a third breaking news for Iran's nuclear program.
News Alert

This is the timeline just as the 'breaking news' is sounded. There had been only 2 messages about Iran's nuclear program before the breaking news on November 29. That is the 'before.'
The after
By 9:10 p.m. the number of messages had jumped to over a thousand. After the announcement there was lots of messaging.
Perhaps, we think being a second class citizen is an honor and the Iranians should be grateful to us for putting them there. N.B. this is November 29. We may bring Huntington's war of cultures to fruition yet.

This has been a very busy week tweeting about Iran and nuclear power. The Post reported they started an increased yield of nuclear materials with the IAEA inspectors present. Of course, the 'western leaders' are frothing at the mouth and warning about sanctions. Israel is doing 'dark.'

Iran's state TV says the country started enriching its uranium to a higher level of 20 percent, over the objections of the international community.
The Tuesday report said enrichment began after Iranian scientists injected 25 kilograms of 3.5 percent enriched uranium gas into a cascade of centrifuges in a laboratory in Natanz, south of Tehran.
It says inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency were present during the process.

The alert was 2:05 a.m. EDT on May 17, 2010. What I should see is a big blip for the file I have been collecting. It will be interesting to see if it is bigger than some of the earlier blips.
