A day was given to Willelmo de Bouinton', in the place of Walter of Faukeberge and Agnes his wife and Petronella, who was the wife of Steffan, for receiving his voucher for 15 days from Easter. And let Petronella have the writ for the sheriff which makes partition in accordance with the contents of the note made in the court

A day was given to Walter Fauconberg. and his wife Agnes and Petronella, the sister of Agnes, for receiving their voucher concerning the distribution of the aforesaid inheritances. And meanwhile let there be a division of land by the sheriff according to what is contained in the agreement. Agnes granted her agreement and appointed William de Boventon'. in her place for receiving the voucher, and Walter likewise appointed him. The aforesaid Walter and Agnes appointed in their place the same William, for gain or loss, against Walter Riebof and Ysabella his wife in an action concerning land and they dismissed Johannes Harpham whom they had previously appointed.

A day was given to William Boynton on behalf of Walter Fauconberg and Petronilla, who was the wife of Steffan Fauconberg., for receiving the voucher for the land of Kukenea for 15 days from Easter. And it must be known that she conceded that she ought not to receive the 3 marks which William Maupertestorpe owed her besides the 2 marks in the course of a year, an that she let go of one bovate of land in Begem, which ought to be within the portion of the aforesaid Walter and his wife, but which she had given to the nuns of Killing.

1 There had already been disputes between the co-heiresses. In 1199 the present plaintiff brought an action against Fauconberge and his wife, and against Walter de Ribof and his wife Isabel, to get her share in a twentieth part of a knight's fee in Cukenei, a sixth part of a knight's fee in Hetwell', and the same amount in Billeburge, of which she had been disseised by the two last mentioned defendants (Rotuli de Oblatis et Finibus, 7).

This fine concludes a dispute, already in progress by Hilary, 1200, between
Petronilla and Agnes over the lands they inherited from their parents. Petronilla,
the widow of Stephen de Fauconberg, gave twenty shillings to have the dispute
brought before the king's court at Westminster. There was a partition of lands,
and finally, after much delay, the parties received their chirograph in April

CCLXXI. The same place and day. Between Nicholas son of Hugh and Cecily, his wife, plaintiffs, by Nicholas himself put in the place of Cecily herself, and Alexander, abbot of Meaux, tenant, by William de Buvington' put in his place etc., concerning the reasonable dower which was belonging to Cecily herself from the free tenement which was Amaury Aguillun's, formerly her husband, in Wharram-le-Street. Whereupon the plea was etc., namely that the aforesaid Nicholas and Cecily have remised etc. from themselves all right etc. in the aforementioned dower to the aforesaid abbot and his successors for ever. And for this quitclaim etc. the aforesaid abbot has given to the aforementioned Nicholas and Cecily, his wife, 10s. sterling.

son of Anketin, plaintiff, by Henry, her son, put in her place etc., and Alexander,
abbot of Meaux, tenant, by William de Buvington' put in place etc., concerning
reasonable dower which was belonging to Ivetta herself from the free tenement
which was the aforesaid William's, formerly her husband, in Warter. Whereupon
the plea was etc., namely that the aforesaid Ivetta has remised etc. all right
etc. in the aforementioned dower from herself to the aforesaid abbot and his
successors for ever. And for this quitclaim etc. the aforementioned abbot has
given to the aforesaid Ivetta 20s. sterling.
