The names of the witnesses point to a date towards the end of the twelfth century as that of the issue of this charter, but Isaac de Timbel is named in the roll of the sheriff of York for 1219.

When Robert le Waleys was sheriff of York (1204-1209) Walter "de Beauvait" gave this bovate to Fountains, and at the same time Richard Malebisse gave all his land in Thornton, being 9 bovates, with the men dwelling on that land, namely Adam son of Ralph, Ralph son of Gamel, Richard, John and Hugh, brothers of the said Adam, Thomas and Morel sons of the same Adam, with their sequel and chattels. The witnesses to these gifts were: Walter de Bovyngton, William his son, Master Simon the dean, Hamon the treasurer and the chapter of York, Robert Le Waleys then sheriff of York, Walter de Faukenberg, master Roger Marmiun, Roger de Escurs, Gerard le Samter of York, Walter de Beauvaiz, Robert de Lue, Swane Le Sage.
