Thomas Boynton married Cecilia Strangeways.
Thomas Boynton of Barmston and Aclam, son and heir, ob. 17/29 March 1523, 24 Henry 8, buried in Rousby chapel, near the high altar. In 1519 he petitioned the Cardinal of York, legate de lat, to Pope Leo X., to have the chapel of Rousby consecrated de novo, and sacrements administered there. By his will, dated 14 May, 12 Henry 8, 1520, he leaves his land in Langtofte to be distributed in alms during the minority of his son Matthew, to whom he gives as heirlooms, his chain of gold--a golden collar was then a badge of knighthood--(if it may be spared and his debts paid), &c., all his lands in Pocklington, Burrercram, and York, which he had by his mother's gift. His son, Thomas Goldesbrough, and Jane, his wife, L20, if she lives til her husband attains the age of 21 years and they cohabit. His son, Robert Haldenby, and Anne, his wife, L6 13s. 4d., and all the feoffaments to be reserved for their use.
Cecilia, daughter of Sir James Strangeways, of Smeaton, Knt. She was contracted to marry, 2ndly, Joscelyn Percy, brother of the 3rd Earl of Northumberland, but he died 8 September 1532, will dated the day before, in which he names her executor and residuary legate. By her will dated 16 June, 1550, she desires to be buried near the high altar in Rousby chapel.
