Thomas Boynton married Ellen Fairfax, then Margaret St. Quintin, then Frances Frobisher, and then Alice Tempest.
Sir Thomas Boynton, son and heir, aged 18 years and 44 days at his father's decease, and whose custody was given to Sir Ralph Evers, Knt., 28 Jan. 1542, with an order for the yearly payment of l25 out of the manor of Barmston for the same. M.P. for Boroughbridge, 13 Elizabeth, high sheriff of Yorkshire, 18 Elizabeth and knighted by her Majesty at Hampton Court, January, 1577, in the 20th year of her reign, in which year he suffered a recovery of the manor of Barmston, and advowson of the rectory. He made several purchases of land, and appears to have incurred a considerable debt. By will proved 30 March 1581, he earnestly requests Henry, Earl of Huntingdon (styling him that man of God), to take upon him the guardianship of his only son; he desires that his body may be privately buried among his ancestors at Barmston, where he was interred, 5 January, 1581/2, the herald receiving 20 marks for sitting on this funeral.
Ellen (1st wife), duaghter of Sir Nicholas Fairfax, of Walton, was a minor in the king's wardship, with whom he had never company, but she was divorced from him, and married to x Vavasour, of Haxelwood (1174).
Margaret (2nd wife), daughter of Sir William St. Quintin, of Harpham, Knt., died s.p.
Frances (3rd wife), daughter of Sir Francis Frobisher, of Altofts and Finningley, recorder of Doncaster, by his wife, Christian, daughter of Sir Brian Hastings, of Fenwick.
Alice (4th wife), daughter of Nicholas Tempest, of Helmesden, bishoprick of Durham, and widow of Walter Strickland, of Sizergh, co. Westmoreland; she mar., 3rdly, to Sir Christopher Place, of Halnaby, co. York, and was buried 12 February, 1632, having had, with other issue a daughter.
